Types of interpretation
Interpreting is divided into the following types:
- Consecutive interpreting - interpreting with waiting, i.e. the interpreter interprets after the speaker has delivered the speech;
- Simultaneous interpreting - interpreting at the moment of speaking, i.e. the interpreter interprets alongside the speaker while they deliver the speech;
- Interpreting "on ear" (chuchotage) - interpreting at the moment of speaking to up to two persons, i.e. the interpreter interprets alongside the speaker while they deliver the speech.
Depending on their characteristics, interpreting can be used for the following purposes:
- Conferences, trainings, presentations and other official and international events;
- Accompaniment - interpreting in various situations, e.g. for opening a bank account, before a public institution, etc;
- Interpreting before a notary - interpreting where a transaction is being witnessed before a notary, e.g. purchase or sale of property;
- Interpreting at business meetings - interpreting where the interpreter assists for a successful communication with foreign guests;
- Interpreting at weddings, private events and other celebrations - the interpreter interprets at the ceremony or other program, as well as facilitates a successful communication between the hosts and the guests.
