Certified translations from Bulgarian into a foreign language are translations made by a sworn translator and certified by the Consular Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Written certified translations from a foreign language into Bulgarian are translations made by a sworn translator and certified by a Bulgarian notary public.

A sworn (certified) translator is a natural person who is authorised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to translate documents and other texts. Each certified translator is included in the list of natural persons who carry out translations of documents and other texts from Bulgarian into a foreign language and from a foreign language into Bulgarian on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria maintained by the Consular Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pursuant to Article 18(1) of the Regulation on legalisations, attestations and translations of documents and other papers.
