1. Requirements for the format of the document

1.1. Original document on a Ministry of Education and Science (MES) form with an outgoing number and date; signature and seal of the issuing institution accredited by the MES (see question “Which higher education institutions are accredited by the MES?”); the Bulgarian grading system must be described.

1.2. The document can be legalized in original form or as a certified copy (the original must be attached for reference).

1.3. In cases where the holder has completed higher education, the diploma must also be attached for reference.

Document issued by a foreign country

1. Requirements for the format of the document

1.1. With an Apostille from countries that are members of the Hague Convention (see question “Which countries are members of the Hague Convention?”).

1.2. In cases where the document originates from a country that is not a member of the Hague Convention and has no bilateral agreement, it must be issued as an original bearing a wet seal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country and the stamp of the Embassy of Bulgaria in that country.

1.3. For North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, and other countries with which Bulgaria has bilateral agreements, the document can be legalized without an Apostille (see question “List of countries with which Bulgaria has signed a bilateral agreement”).
