Translation of a supplement to a higher education diploma

The diploma certifies completion of higher education and the qualification awarded, while the supplement shows how the academic result was formed. It records the period and mode of study, semesters, curriculum, compulsory and elective courses, placements, credits and grades.

The two documents have different functions and are commonly submitted as a connected file. The supplement does not replace the diploma; it gives a university, employer or recognition authority the detail needed to understand the level, content and scope of the qualification.

A foreign university or competent authority may require a translation from a legible copy, a certified copy, an official translator-signed version or a file with apostille and further authentication. The correct form depends on the country, intended use and recipient rules.
