1. Document format requirements:

1.1. A certified copy issued by a notary public.

2.4. State fee for the Directorate of “Consular Relations” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Deadline for executing the order:

Translation – 48 hours (standard order); 24 hours (quick order); same day (express order)

Ministry of Justice – 4 business days

Directorate of “Consular Relations” at the MFA:

  • Quick order – 2 business days
  • Express order – 1 business day

Document issued in a foreign country

1. Document format requirements:

1.1. Must bear an apostille if issued by a country that is a member of the Hague Convention (see question: “Which countries are members of the Hague Convention?”).

1.2. If the document is from a country that is not a member of the Hague Convention and does not have a bilateral agreement with Bulgaria, it must be presented as an original with the original stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and a stamp from the Bulgarian embassy in the same country.

1.3. For North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, and other countries with which Bulgaria has bilateral agreements, the document may be legalized without an apostille (see question: “List of countries with which Bulgaria has signed bilateral agreements”).
