Certificate (ISO) Translation

ISO develops International Standards but does not certify organisations or issue their certificates. An independent certification body issues the certificate after assessing a management system or another defined scheme. The body, its accreditation and the standard referenced by the certificate are therefore separate elements.

Certificates referring to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22000 or ISO 13485 may cover different systems, sectors and activities. A certificate is not the standard itself, a product declaration of conformity, a test report, an accreditation certificate or a general operating licence.

Core checks cover the certified organisation’s full name and address, included sites or branches, exact standard number and edition, description of certified activities, certificate number and the certification scheme.

Initial certification, issue, expiry, renewal and certification-decision dates are not interchangeable. Neither are the certification body, accreditation body and accreditation mark. Annexes listing further sites or an extended scope, signatures, seals, QR codes and online verification references remain linked to the main certificate.

Preparation identifies the certificate type, standard, language pair and intended use. Management-system, audit and certification terminology is aligned, while names, numbers, addresses, dates and designations are compared line by line with the source.

Revision checks headings, tables, notes, annexes and repeated identifiers. Logos and accreditation marks are not redesigned; the visible wording around them is translated. Translation does not confirm current certificate status, extend its validity or broaden the certified scope.

Certified translation establishes the applicable link between the translation and translator. A recipient may separately require a check in the certification body’s register, accreditation confirmation, a notarised copy or a statement from the issuer. Translation does not replace those checks.

Many ISO certificates are private documents issued by certification companies. Apostille or consular legalisation is therefore not automatic; prior notarial or issuer authentication may be required, while in other cases a certified translation is sufficient. The country and exact recipient determine the document set.

Price reflects the language, standard-page count, technical terminology, layout density, scan quality and required certification. A short certificate for one site differs from a multilingual document containing tables, several addresses and multiple scope annexes.

The quotation separates the main certificate, scope annexes, additional certified copies, notarial or administrative services and delivery. The amount therefore follows the actual file rather than a single price for every ISO certificate.

A one-page certificate is generally faster to process than a set covering multiple certified sites, detailed technical activities, tables and annexes. The language pair, legibility, layout reproduction and independent revision also affect timing.

Expedited work is assessed after all pages have been reviewed. Notarial acts, issuer confirmations, apostille, consular procedures and courier delivery follow separate schedules and are not automatically included in the translation time.

A complete PDF or legible images of the front, reverse and annexes allow accurate assessment. The standard and edition, scope, organisation and sites, certification body, certificate number, dates, signatures, seals and validity notes need to remain visible.

The quotation combines the language pair, pages, technical field, intended use, certification, timing and delivery. If a tender or partner requires a separately certified annex or a status check, that work is identified as a distinct service component.
