A Bulgarian school transfer certificate is connected with moving a pupil from one school to another. It serves a specific transfer and enrolment procedure and does not certify completion of an educational degree. For use abroad, the first step is to confirm whether the receiving institution needs this certificate or a different record of the pupil's studies.
What does the certificate record?
It identifies the pupil and the school from which the pupil is transferring and carries the details required by the applicable Bulgarian form. Depending on the educational stage, it may show the class, mode and school year, learning results and information about imposed or removed disciplinary measures. Who issues it and where is it sent?
The school in which the pupil studied issues the certificate, and its head signs it. Under the current Bulgarian procedure for transfers between Bulgarian schools, information and documents are exchanged officially with the receiving school. Is it the same as a certificate of completed class?
No. A transfer certificate supports enrolment at another school, whereas a certificate of completed class proves that a particular school year has been completed. An academic transcript, pupil record, certificate of completed educational stage and diploma each have another function. The foreign school may request more than one of these records.
Which details do we check before translation?
We compare the exact title, pupil's names and identifiers, issuing school, locality, school year, class, mode of study, grades and other entries. We also inspect the date, reference number, signature, seal and every page or attachment. Missing information is referred back to the issuer rather than silently completed in the translation.
How are school-system terms translated?
The class or grade, educational stage, mode of study, subjects, results and disciplinary entries must remain distinct. We use an understandable equivalent for the receiving system while retaining the official Bulgarian designation when there is no full match. The translation must not turn a transfer certificate into a diploma or proof of recognised education.
What else may the foreign school require?
The receiving institution sets its own list. Along with the transfer certificate, it may ask for a transcript of subjects and grades, a completed-class certificate, curriculum information, proof of address or an identity document. Confirming the list in advance avoids translating the wrong document or submitting an incomplete educational file.
Are an apostille and certified translation always needed?
No. The required form depends on the destination, recipient, type and format of the school record and applicable international rules. Some institutions accept a translation from an electronic copy, while others require the original, a certified translation or authentication of its official origin.
