La Fit Trans applies a system for written translation services under ISO 17100:2015 with Amendment 1:2017. The international standard defines requirements for the core processes, professional and technical resources and management of the service so that the completed translation meets the agreed specifications. Those specifications include the purpose and audience of the text, the client’s requirements, the translation service provider’s own procedures and any relevant professional or regulatory requirements.
The scope is deliberately specific: ISO 17100 concerns written translation services. Interpreting is not covered, while raw machine-translation output followed by post-editing belongs to a different service model. Making this distinction at quotation stage identifies which process is being offered, which activities are included and what deliverable will be supplied. Different forms of language work are therefore not presented as though they carried the same workflow or control requirements.
The process begins before translation itself. Source files, language pair, subject field, intended use, format, volume, deadline and any available terminology resources are reviewed. Feasibility is assessed and the responsible project coordinator, suitable translator, independent reviser and necessary technical resources are assigned. Clarifications, file versions and changes to the brief remain connected with the particular order so that decisions can be traced throughout the project rather than being scattered across separate messages.
Professional competence is a central part of the system. The translator is selected for the language pair, subject area and purpose of the text, and performs a self-check after translating. Independent bilingual revision is then carried out by another competent linguist, who compares the target text with the source and examines accuracy, omissions, terminology, consistency and style. Where the agreed project specification requires them, subject review, proofreading or a technical check of layout and file behaviour are added as separate activities.
Project management connects these roles into one controlled sequence. The coordinator distributes instructions and current files, monitors deadlines, manages questions for the client, protects the version intended for revision and confirms that accepted corrections have been implemented. Before delivery, final verification checks the agreed completeness, format, file names and delivery method. Linguistic control and organisational control therefore support one another without administrative handling being described as language revision.
For the client, the value lies in a clear and repeatable process: the quotation has a defined scope, tasks have accountable specialists, terminology and versions remain associated with the order, and the completed text receives a second competent review and final verification. La Fit Trans’s public certificate records the certified scope and period of conformity under ISO 17100. The system supports consistent service for individual documents, specialised materials and multilingual projects alike.
