Discreet interpreting without pauses in the programme
La Fit Trans provides chuchotage for a small number of listeners when the speech must continue uninterrupted and the interpreter can work immediately beside them.

Whispering interpretation, also known as chuchotage, is a form of simultaneous interpreting. The interpreter sits or stands close to the listeners and renders the speech quietly while the speaker continues. There are no separate pauses for interpretation and the rhythm of the meeting is preserved. Unlike standard simultaneous interpreting with a booth and individual headsets, the interpreter’s voice remains audible in the room.
Chuchotage can suit a limited number of people at a business meeting, working visit, short presentation, training session, hearing or appointment with an authority when only part of the group does not understand the working language. There is no universal professional headcount that automatically makes the format suitable or unsuitable. The decision depends on the listeners, their seating, the duration, the acoustics and whether they only need to follow the discussion or also take an active part.
Positioning in the room matters directly. The interpreter needs to hear the speaker clearly and remain close enough to the listeners without the quiet rendition distracting the rest of the audience. In a noisy venue, at a substantial distance from the speaker or throughout a long programme, whispering can strain listening and disturb neighbouring participants. Portable receivers or a full simultaneous system can then provide cleaner sound and greater freedom of movement.
Whispering usually operates in one principal direction, from the event language into the language of the small group. If those listeners need to ask questions or participate in a bilateral exchange, their contributions can be interpreted consecutively for the room. Where there are several working languages, lengthy sessions or an intensive agenda, the team is planned around the actual programme; one interpreter is not an automatic solution for every duration and language arrangement.
Preparation is as important as it is for other forms of interpreting. The agenda, participant names, presentations, abbreviations and specialist terminology give the interpreter useful context before the event. Details about the venue, sound system, seating, access and movement between rooms help establish a workable position. Where possible, a short sound and visibility check removes practical obstacles before the programme begins.
La Fit Trans reviews the programme, languages, number of listeners, their role in the discussion, the acoustics and the technical setting. When chuchotage fits the event, the quotation reflects the exact language team and organisation. If the meeting requires more mobility, clearer sound or several parallel language channels, we can propose portable equipment, fully equipped simultaneous interpreting or a combined format.
