Simultaneous interpretation renders speech in another language almost at the same time as the speaker. The interpreter hears the source sound through a headset, analyses the meaning and speaks into a microphone after a short natural delay. The audience selects the relevant language channel and follows the interpretation without the programme stopping after every contribution. This uninterrupted rhythm is the defining difference from consecutive interpretation.
The format is powerful for conferences, congresses, panels, general meetings, training, international presentations, live broadcasts and hybrid events. It is especially useful when the same speech needs to reach several language groups at once or when the schedule cannot accommodate alternation between speaker and interpreter. Simultaneous interpretation is not automatically the best option for every meeting; the choice still follows the actual exchange, audience and technical setting.
At an on-site event, the signal begins with the speaker’s microphone. The interpreter receives it in a booth or through a suitable portable solution, follows the room and presentations, and delivers the interpretation on a separate outgoing channel. Delegates listen with receivers and headsets while a technician manages sound reinforcement, channels and connections. The booth needs good audibility, sightlines, quiet, lighting and ventilation; monitors become important where a direct view of the stage is insufficient.
The language arrangement is broader than one “pair”. A channel and suitable team are planned for every language in which the audience needs to listen. Participants may speak and hear the same set of languages, but a reduced arrangement is also possible: contributions can be made in more languages than those into which interpretation is delivered. Complex multilingual programmes may use a pivot language when a direct interpreter for a particular direction is not part of the available team.
Team size depends on duration, intensity, language directions, subject matter and the distribution of sessions. Professionals alternate during sustained work to maintain concentration, but one fixed number does not describe every event. Parallel rooms, work from a studio or remote platform, and recording or streaming introduce separate requirements. Technical staff, a sound contingency and a rehearsal belong to the core organisation rather than being added at the last moment.
La Fit Trans starts with the programme, speaking and listening languages, participant numbers, rooms and method of connection. Presentations, names, abbreviations and terminology prepare the interpreters, while a technical survey determines booths, consoles, microphones, receivers, platform and internet connectivity. The quotation combines the language team and technology in one workable configuration for an on-site, remote or hybrid event.
